In 2019, the OK, Boomer meme really picked up traction. It even has a Wikipedia entry. Most recently we saw New Zealand MP Chloe Swarbrick dismiss an older member of parliament with the term after he interjected during her speech supporting a climate change bill. It went viral. See video below.
But by the 2050’s will ‘OK, Boomer’ become ‘OK, Burner’? In our novel, Court of the Grandchildren, set forty years from now, the older generation are disparagingly referred to as the ‘Burners’. One of the premises of the story is that a whole generation is condemning the ‘burners’ for the mess they find themselves in. Sound familiar?
